John co-founded Viz with Steve Roth. He specializes in product definition,
design and development; requirements gathering and business process analysis; system and software
architecture and design; and data modeling and information architecture.
As product manager and design lead for the DARPA Command Post of the Future (CPoF) program, Jake defined
new product concepts with subject matter experts, and led a team of designers and engineers to develop a
working system. He also spends a lot of time trying to teach the rest of us how to do what he does.
As a Senior Research Programmer at Carnegie Mellon University, he designed and developed the SAGE automated
visualization system, including user interfaces and representations for graphical languages. As a Senior
Engineer at the Carnegie Group, Jake performed product development, porting, and maintenance of CGI expert
system development toolkits.
For fun and relaxation, Jake climbs walls and careens down mountains on a bike.
